On Saturday September 19th, 2009 from 9:00-4:00 pm, The Home Gardeners' School offers you expert instruction in the most innovative gardening and landscaping subjects available. NJAES is proud to offer you a wider variety of classes, over four different sessions, so you may participate in many diverse class offerings throughout the day. Speakers from the commercial horticulture and landscape design programs will be participating along with NJAES/Rutgers Cooperative Research Extension & The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences faculty and staff, providing you opportunities to learn from the best in the business.

There is more to planting than just digging a hole! Learn the Basic techniques for preparing an area and properly planting material to ensure health, beauty and longevity. Proper Pruning Techniques for Plant Health. 2:30-4:00 pm
Believe it or not, proper pruning techniques will keep your plants healthier and happier as well as extend their life cycle. A healthy plant is better equipped to resist diseases and environmental stress injury. This is one class you will not want to cut! (Outdoor Activity Weather Permitting)

NEW! 2009 Spring Series, Sterling Consultants Professional Continuing Education Classes |
Sterling Consultants is offering A new line-up of Spring educational training programs with a schedule for both green industry professionals, shade tree members and novice horticulturalists. Classes will cover Best Management Practices and strategies to help make judicious decisions in regards to the variables faced when working with plants and challenging sites. Tree Identification Walks. 1:30-4:00 pm Sunday afternoons
Weekly Tree ID walks will begin again on January 25th, 2009. Local arboreta, display gardens and recreational areas provide a diverse inventory of trees & woody plants for identification. The use of dichotomous keys and systematic methodology are taught to assist in proper plant identification. Walks are conducted free of charge when regularly scheduled programs are not running. For information on the location of an up coming walk, please email us so we can include on our listserv.
